In the past year we purchased a polka dot luggage set. Little did we know that we were a part of a hot fashion trend. Polka dots are really hot and chic. Take a look in the stores and you’ll find polka dot clothes, sandals, handbags, you name it. It’s like the I Love Lucy Vitameta vegamin episode.
What we really like about our polka dot suitcase is how it stands out at the airport. Once it arrives on the conveyor belt, we can spot it a mile away. Plus, we get a lot of compliments about the bags.
Our kids have picked up on this trend as well. Our oldest daughter recently purchased polka dot bedding and our youngest loves polka dot shirts in any color.
Polka dots tells a lot about your personality. It shows a fun-loving, playful nature. Polka dots can be found on a number of items, including polka dot handbags, polka dot duffle bags, even polka dot diaper bags. What fun!
Collecting coins is a fascinating hobby. We currently have a number of old coins, including silver Mercury dimes and Washington quarters, wheat pennies, silver dollars, etc. It’s amazing to hold these coins and imagine the number of hands that have held them as well. One category of coins that is really intriguing for us is the error coins.
Simply put, these coins are mistakes made at the mint. And never were suppose to see the light of day. However, every now and then, one sneaks out into the public. Mistakes can range from double images in the design (double die), nicks from the coin dies leaving a raised area on the coin (die gouges and die scratches), to a coin partially imprinted with the mirror image of the coin design (brokage). Given their rarity, these coins can sometimes fetch a great price. Recently, mint errors found on the State Quarters have inspired many people to search through their pockets.
An interesting way to spend the evening as a family is to pour a bunch of coins on the table and search through them, looking for errors. A magnifying glass is helpful in searching the details of your coins. The Error Coin Auctions website provides a description of the many types of errors you might find.

What a refreshing scent appropriate for the Spring. Our latest candle of the month is the Mia Bella’s Key Lime Pie. You can actually smell the tangy lime and green lemon zest, which reminds us of our trip last year to Key West. Each month, we receive a new 16 oz. candle through the Candle of the Month Club. We’ve enjoyed sampling the different fragrances and appreciate that the candles are made with a natural wax blend. This helps hold the fragrance throughout the life of the candle. Additionally, we get 12 votive candles of the same scent and a Bella bar, a soy mixed soap.
Well, a couple of months ago I decided to start clearing out some of the boxes in our garage and I opened up my very own eBay account. This has been a real learning experience and I am happy to report that over the past 7 weeks I have made a little over $1000.
Boy, have I learned a lot about listing, packing, shipping and the importance of feedback. I have also learned that in doing research on the items I wasn’t sure how to describe, I found new items that I wanted to buy (that can be a down side). I have sold 28 items and bought only 2. I now have a really neat Lucky Brand Guitar Bracelet and Grant has a “new to him” silver Mazda Miata Convertible. Zoom Zoom.

Come to think of it, you might just want to focus on selling and not buying, at least initially. I have shared my new hobby with a good friend, Traci, and she and her mom are now equally obsessed with scouring the garage, closets, drawers, cabinets and even under the kids beds (I’ve found stuff there that, well never mind). Anyway, if you haven’t tried selling your unwanted items, I highly recommend it. It’s so easy to get started and I bet you will be surprised by what other people around the world are interested in purchasing. I did sell a figurine to someone in Poland, that’s pretty cool.
I would be happy to answer any questions you might have on selling on eBay. Just leave a comment below. And as I learn more, I will be posting new articles here.
If you are interested in setting up your very own eBay account (for free), just click here and, once into eBay, click on register. It’s that simple.

This is our newest online niche business using Build a Niche Business Stores software. This site benefits from a fair amount of best practices we’ve learn over the last two months. We’ve also incorporated a bookmarking icon on the site. Within the next week, we’ll add a few articles and submit those to a couple of social networking sites. We’ve also overhauled the links on this blog to better showcase our websites. A couple of the links actually go to shops created by our friends, Rolando and Traci.
