Welcome to a New Year. And as a good friend said last night at our house, “let’s have no hate in ’08.” Last night was a blast as we celebrated with our family and good friends. We enjoyed watching the Ball Drop in Times Square on TV. Plus spent a few moments with neighbors at their party and had the chance to meet some new friends.
We’re excited about what 2008 will mean to us and our children.
Our older teens are now practicing their driving skills (amazing how the gray hairs appear during this time) and will have their licenses later this year. More freedom for them is in store. Our oldest has been working at a local restaurant for the last couple of months and has been enjoying making her own money. Earlier this week, she treated the entire family to a meal at her favorite restaurant. Our second oldest will probably have his own job later this year, which will give him much more freedom to do the things he wants to do.
Our two younger kids are about to enter the teens (hmmm, even more gray hairs). We’re already seeing signs of their growing independence. Our youngest son is learning how to express himself calmly. Plus he’s becoming an amazing bowler with a 140 average. Our youngest daughter is enjoying a growing social life. She’s learning how she can be a positive influence to her friends.
We’ll march along on our goals of transforming our lifestyle. We’re in the process of building a few online businesses with friends and continuing our efforts with Arbonne. We’re also approaching our New Year Resolutions a bit differently this year. Instead of saying we’ll lose weight, make more money, etc., we’re taking the following approach:
- We’re going to learn how to be more healthy
- We’re going to learn how to be more prosperous
- We’re going to better enjoy family time and trips
“Learning how” seems to make everything more attainable and it gives us permission to make mistakes along the way. Basically, we’re becoming students again. Learning about health. Learning about entrepreneurialism. And learning how to enjoy our family as they grow and experience new things in their lives.
We’re excited about 2008. And hope you will be too. There is so much to learn and do and enjoy.
